Congratulations to Shana (Manning) Michael, ADM Class of 1995 & parents Al & Kris (Peterson) Manning, Adel Class of 1969 on her induction into Buena Vista University Athletic Hall of Fame on September 10, 2016.  Shana was honored by the University and her coach, Marge Willadsen, for her career in softball for the University.  Throughout her career, she was a four-year letter winner, two-time First Team All -IIAC selection, and a three-time All-Region honoree.  She also played on an IIAC Championship team in 1996 as a freshman and on a regional runner-up squad as a junior in 1998.  She remains ranked on BVU’s top-10 all-time list in average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, hits, doubles, triples, total bases and walks.  Overall, the Beavers generated more than 85 wins in her four years while going 44-21 in league play.  Other awards during her time at BVU included “Rookie of the Year”, “Most Dedicated Team Player”, “Golden Glove Award”, and was named team Co-Captain.  She received the Harriet Henry Dedicated Athlete Award, was a recipient of the ZZ White Leadership scholarship, was on the Dean’s List and NFCA Academic All American all four years.  She received the Senior Award for the School of Education in Exercise Science and was President of the Student Athlete Advisory Council.  Shana was inducted at half-time of the BVU Football game and then was honored at a reception and banquet that evening where she was introduced by her college softball coach, honored by the presence of teammates, her high school coaches Steve and Lu Schlafke and her family.  Shana gave a speech thanking all who contributed to her success and love for the game.  Shana currently resides in Norwalk, IA with husband Roy and children Hadley and Ryder.  Shana continues in her love for the game coaching both of her children’s teams in Softball and T-ball.
